In the process of laser hair removal, a laser emits light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) within the hair. This light energy is transformed into heat, which then disrupts the tubular structures in the skin, known as hair follicles, responsible for generating hair. This disruption reduces the growth of future hair.

Am I an ideal candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
You’ll be glad to know that 90% of patients who are considered good candidates report hair loss after three to six sessions. However, not everyone is suitable for this type of procedure.
Hair removal treatments work best on fair skin and thick, dark hair. Patients with darker skin will likely require more treatments. People with blonde, light-colored hair might have a difficult time with this treatment option.
Pre-appointment guidelines
Avoid sun, blood thinners and hydrate the day before.
Post-appointment care:
- Avoid wearing makeup for at least 48 hours
- SPF Everyday
- You may experience redness and swelling on your skin within the first 48 hours following the treatment
- You may experience itchiness and some sensitivity over the next few days
- Avoid vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours
- DO NOT touch treated area for 24 hours!

When will I see results, how long does it last?

Is Laser Hair Reduction Painful?
Slight discomfort is normal, especially in sensitive areas like underarms, but the procedure should not be painful. Many individuals describe the sensation of laser hair removal as akin to tiny rubber bands flicking against the skin. Applying a topical numbing cream, available over-the-counter, prior to treatment at LH Spa & Rejuvenation can help minimize discomfort. Alternatively, an ice pack can achieve a similar numbing effect.
Pre-Appointment Guidlines
- Shave the treatment area 24 hours prior to the appointment.
- For first-timers, leave a small patch of hair for examination; your specialist will shave it before treatment.
- For bikini services, avoid shaving the hair you wish to keep.
- Refrain from using makeup, lotion, or deodorant on the treatment area on the appointment day.
- Avoid direct sunlight for at least 3 days before and after the appointment.
- Refrain from self-tanners or spray tan products for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
- Limit alcohol intake to 2 beverages 24 hours before the session.
- Avoid waxing, threading, or tweezing for at least 4 weeks; shaving is permissible.
- Important notes: (1) Pregnant, breastfeeding, or conceiving individuals cannot undergo laser services. (2) Bikini laser services are unavailable during menstruation.
Post Appointment Care
- Immediate redness and bumps at the treatment site are normal, lasting up to 2 hours or more.
- The treated area might feel sunburned temporarily. Applying a cold compress can alleviate sensitivity, and if crusting occurs, an antibiotic cream can be applied. Darker skin might experience more discomfort.
- Gentle cleansing of the treated area is recommended.
- Wash the treated area gently with mild soap, pat dry instead of rubbing for the first 48 hours.
- Avoid makeup, lotion, and moisturizer for the initial 24 hours.
- Keep the treated area clean and dry. If redness or irritation persists, skip makeup, moisturizer, and deodorant (for underarms) until it subsides.
- Shedding of dead hairs will commence within 5-30 days.
- Expect stubble, representing shed hair, to appear 5-30 days after treatment. This is normal and signifies the hair’s natural shedding process.
- Exfoliation can expedite hair shedding.
- Between 5-30 days post-treatment, hair shedding may occur, resembling new hair growth. It’s actually the dead hair being pushed out of the follicle.

- For 2 months, avoid sun exposure to prevent dark or light spots. Use sunscreen (SPF 25 or higher) consistently during and after the treatment period.
- Refrain from picking, scratching, waxing, threading, or tweezing.
- Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin.
- Stick to shaving as the only hair removal method during the laser treatment course for optimal results.
